Infinite Singularities (adj., n.)
1. a space or quantity that is infinite, in a condition of being singular.

I have been a maker for as long as I could remember. Falling in love with paint at a young age then many subsequent media as time trekked on. Nothing quite as satisfying as feeling paint squish across canvas, not until I found glass. Glass was painting in 3D, it was everything I ever wanted the paints to do. I struggled to find a way to learn until the Pacific Northwest Cannabis pipe scene found me. From here I learned about sculpture but with in the constraints of functionality. This is paired with a lifestyle where everyone would circle up before going anywhere. Passing various wares around and pressing pause on the busy world to check in, exchange, and share space with one another. I started seeing that the moments of deeper conversations would often have some sort of functional object at its center, something that facilitated the experience in some way. And these pieces of furniture, smoke ware, drink wear, and more became roots for these small but, in hindsight, deeply meaningful moments.
The centerpiece is a game. Using some common board game tropes to be recognizable to participants. There is a board, some pieces, and a 6-sided dice with some symbols throughout the board. That’s it, just the hardware. The rules come from the participants. They will have to define, enforce, and navigate their rule set together.
All of this is placed on a round coffee table surrounded by pillows and has an undefined number of seats. Bringing the comfort of the living room into the seriousness of the gallery. All to say how important spending time and sharing space is. On my journey, the living room looks like more and more people are checking out instead of tuning in, and the galleries get ever more serious. I wonder how overlapping them can remind us of how all the little moments add up to the big ones.
The central area is grouped with a few more found object furniture that I have edited/refinished the backdrop for the works throughout the gallery. The center of the room focused on working together. The discovery desk looks at personal observation, research, and discovery. And the Lounge, a great place to share in someone's company, or share in the melting head’s company.
These installation works are accompanied by some individual works, jewelry, and household accoutrements. The Revealed cube takes an infinite unit, both inside and in quantity, and reveals its interior and oozes the variety of things that make it up. The Piece, “Outside-In”, is one that has been on my mind for a few years and I am so humbled by turning creating it. It seems the more humans look inward, we find things that look like things on much grander scales. Brain network = cosmic network, atom = solar system, mycelium = Fiberoptics, and it keeps going. In the famous words of Stephen Hawking, “ we are all star stuff.”, We are infinite and diverse, even though our experience may feel singular.
In my experience, the gallery can be a little intimidating as an enjoyer of art. I often wonder what the others viewing works near by are thinking about them, but I don’t wanna bug or interrupt them.
