Creating a space for convergence. For conversation and exploration.
This space includes multiple sections that overlap in the way audience members can interact with them. The room was sectioned off with curtains to be its own space. With two black repurposed chairs angled between, addressing each other and looking out the large window. To the left of the window on the wall is a glass shelf that holds 3 books and a cube. The books are Converging Matter, a collection of black hole themed poetry by the artist; Silica Skys, the original collection of findings from the “Glasstronomical Plates” project; and Thoughts, a blank book that only the reader knows the content. The Cube is made with mirrors facing inward and outward, with holes throughout the object to allow the many reflections to play. On the opposing wall are 3 prints, each representing a scale of existence ( lived, micro, macro). Titled Skin, Sink, Stars. Each is a photo translated into black and white of these three things.
This work explores the themes of Space and Convergence. Passive and active exposure to things can change the way we think and interact. The small moments are the big moments.
